For those of you dying for the return of Union Hockey, your countdown to “Christmas” starts today. Union announced its 2026-27 full schedule and it does not disappoint.
The Garnet Chargers will open the season at home on October 2 with an exhibition against ECAC opponent Colgate. The regular season kicks off the following evening at West Point in a rematch of last season’s opening night contest against Army.
ECAC play will kick off officially on Halloween weekend with a home and home contest against area rival, RPI. Union will travel to Troy on 10/30 with a home contest on Halloween night.
The non-conference schedule is packed with return trips against several 2025-26 home opponents, with trips to UNH, UMASS Lowell, Niagara, and a long flight to Alaska for a pair of games. Alaska also returns to Union for a game in October for a total of three contests between the schools this season.
New opponents are highlighted by BIG10 opponent Ohio State. The Buckeyes will come to Schenectady for a pair of games at the end of November. This former Michigan resident has those games circled in bold! Additionally, two 2026 NCAA Tournament participants will be making the trip to M&T as Bentley from Atlantic Hockey and Providence from Hockey East are scheduled to square off against Union.
