Using the site
The site is free to read and use for your own personal, non-commercial purposes: following the team, research, discussion and writing about college hockey.
Our original work
The following are the original work of Union Hockey Blog and are protected by copyright:
- PACE player ratings, the PACE methodology, and every figure derived from it (career and season PACE, PACE per game, scales and tiers);
- the Tournament Index, the Top 20, NCAA tournament and bubble projections, Hobey Watch, standings and season forecasts, milestone predictions, player similarity scores and other models;
- articles, analysis, charts, page designs, and the site's software;
- the way the site's databases are selected, organized and presented.
What you're welcome to do
- Quote individual figures, such as a player's PACE or a team's ranking, in conversation, articles, broadcasts or social posts, as long as you credit Union Hockey Blog and, where you can, link to the page.
- Link to any page on the site.
- Share screenshots of a page for discussion, with the source visible.
What needs our written permission
- Copying or republishing PACE ratings or other figures from the site in bulk, such as full tables, leaderboards, lists or datasets.
- Using the site's ratings, projections or data in any commercial product or service, including paid content, apps, betting or fantasy tools.
- Using the site's content or data to train or feed artificial intelligence or machine-learning systems.
- Scraping, crawling or downloading the site with automated tools, or requesting the site's data feeds from outside the site's own pages.
- Getting around the site's rate limits, access keys or other technical protections.
- Presenting the PACE method, or a copy of it, as your own.

Data from other sources
Game results, box scores, schedules and standings come from public sources, including Union College Athletics, College Hockey News, the NCAA, junior and professional leagues, and the NHL. Those sources own their own content, and the underlying facts belong to no one. Team names and logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify teams. Union Hockey Blog is an independent fan site and is not affiliated with Union College, Union Athletics, ECAC Hockey, the NCAA or any league or team.
No guarantee
The site is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate, but statistics can contain errors, and ratings, rankings and projections are estimates, not predictions to rely on for wagering or any other decision. We aren't responsible for losses that come from using the site.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.
